Purgason voting record, have you looked?

If you are reading this then you probably agree with me that Government has gone awry and Roy Blunt is part of the problem. He has had a 14+ year political run of being a yes man for the Republican Party and Oil Companies.

People have continued to tell me that they vote for Blunt because he has voted their way on every issue. Ok, I would argue that I would not have voted for TARP or any Federal government involvement into business but let us put that aside for now. What has Roy Blunt actually done for you or Missouri?

In my opinion next to nothing, his bill sponsorship record says it all. Do not count co-sponsored bills, they are like someone from the office buying the boss a birthday present and everyone signs the card.

So what do we do? It seems that some people are just running to the next politician. Yes, I am talking about Chuck Purgason. These people are why we are stuck in this perpetual rut of politics. Hello, Chuck is a 14 year politician with a term limit looming.

Have you ever looked at his voting record? Oh yes I know he states that he is a big cost cutter conservative, but were those no’s in the best interest of Missouri or part of a plan to have a Senate race platform? In reality we have to spend money to function and saying no to all expenditures is ridiculous and by no means conservative.

Here is a direct quote from someone that replied to one of my Blogs, “What if he killed over 80 bills that would add costs to Missouri's budget in just one year?”. Well first of all I am sure that his 1 vote is not the sole reason these bills did not pass, last time I checked it still took a majority in the Missouri government. I am sure that I could also say that about all of the other “accomplishments” that person listed. Conservatism does not equal saying no to all expenditures, it means investing wisely and eliminating waste.

Now searching for his voting record I did find some interesting things out, Chuck votes NO on some issues that I would have voted yes on. In fact he voted NO on issues that passed with margins as high as 26 YES and only 7 NO in a Republican majority Senate. So that leaves me with 2 lines of thought, 1) Chuck Purgason is against improving Business, Education, and Law Enforcement (Proven by his voting history), 2) He abused his power and voted NO on everything that showed an expenditure for Missouri (With exception to ones that had a big federal payout) so he would have a Senate platform to run on.

I will leave that up to you to decide, but a good site to view is votesmart.org.

This is why our forefathers did not put any prerequisites into the constitution for holding office. Otherwise People would run for an office that they did not care about or manipulate their voting before elections so they could climb the political ladder and abuse the peoples trust. Both Roy and Chuck have name recognition because people in parts of our state voted them into office, apart from that they are no different than you or I.

I also keep hearing people talk about experience, what is political experience anyway? Does that mean they are better at saying yea or nay? Or does that mean that they are better at playing the game that has left us all out in the cold? I may not have experience in politics but I do not intend on playing any games anyway. Do not feel bad if you have shown loyalty to one of these guys, they are “experienced” at the game and no one will know who you actually vote for.

Please think smart and end this political insanity. Good people are out there and need to be found. Unfortunately all of us do not have millions of dollars, a government paycheck, or a public platform. We are here, break the cycle and come find us. Be a real grass roots patriot and fight instead of follow.

  1. So, by your calculations, if he voted NO against the majority of Republicans, that's a bad thing?

Flawed logic. He doesn't vote STATUS QUO. That's a very good thing.

  2. And your logic is? My point was he voted no against his party even when Democtrats voted for it,Logic should tell you something is up.

P.S. Voting for a career politician because you are unhappy with the parties career politician does not sound very un Status QUO to me.

  3. Since both democrats and republicans are part of the problem, the fact that Chuck Purgason votes against his party is a GREAT thing!

  5. You miss the point. He votes against his party all the time so why not run Independent?
He votes against policy that both parties come together and vote for so what does he stand for?
Missouri is required to have a balanced budget so voting NO constantly on issues we need does not save anything, that is worked out later in the budget.
I am running because I do not like Blunt but at least I know where he stands, Purgason I just do not trust at all because he does not seem to stand for anything but himself.
Justify it how you please but some of you are only looking at him because he is what you are used to, a typical politician. And what ever he says you take for gospel due to the simple fact he is not Blunt.
